Sleeping To The Rhythm Of His Heart

© 2012 Mark Cote

Just like a freight train rolling along
keeping time to the beat of his song
cradled in those big arms of steel
there's no other way that I wanna feel

(chorus) sleepin' to the rhythm
                  sleepin' to the rhythm
sleepin' to the rhythm of his heart
                  sleepin' to the rhythm
                  sleepin' to the rhythm
sleepin' to the rhythm of his heart
I knew it was you right from the start
                  sleepin' to the rhythm
sleepin' to the rhythm of his heart

in this dream I'm riding through
we fly together just me and you
to a spot where the night meets the day
may the rest of the world just melt away

(chorus)
(instrumental)

when I wake up and see your face
through lines of life we cannot erase
this deeper love we've learned to hold
in this love we'll never grow old

(chorus)

In A Dream

© 2012 Mark Cote

On an old deserted highway
an old man walks and cries
the anguish melted in his eyes
is what he can't disguise

Like some old lost memory
in this sleepy little town
her melody comes back to him
and doesn't make a sound

as he sits there outside himself
in a cold disdain
blind bluebird sings her song
some things he can't explain

(chorus) In a dream in a dream
she knew what she meant to him
in a dream in a dream
                  she never went away
in a dream in a dream
he wished that she would hear
in a dream in a dream
                  why did she disappear

he used up so much energy
now all he feels is numb
this is not the kind of a man
he thought he would become

though he knows he can't deny
what they had was real
and until the day that he dies
that's just the way he'll feel

(chorus)

just so many hours
before we're old and grey
just so many hours
until we go away

While he strolls on a sunny beach
he cries now just the same
while painted smiles on her face
in October rain

(chorus)

Without A Parachute

© 2012 Mark Cote

you've got me feeling like a daredevil in love
I want to take the dare
I could hit a wall and crash and burn
baby I don't care

now I'm spinning on the high wire
people stop and stare
But girl I can't help myself
you're just so debonair
whoa..

(chorus) Without a parachute
                  I falling into you
                  without a parachute
                  from high up above
                  without a parachute
                  deep into your love
                  without a parachute
          parachute
            parachute

floating out there in a sea of sharks
maybe I'll sink or swim
they can't get me when I think of you
I think I'll grow some fins

(chorus)
(guitar solo)

and I can take what they throw at me
'cause you make me strong as steel

(chorus)

A Butterfly On A Summer's Day

© 2012 Mark Cote

With the gentle raindrops
listen to them all
when their song is over
the wonder of it all
I can hear a happy flutter
from near and far away
like a butterfly on a summer's day

painting a rainbow
with everything she sings
you can feel all the warmth
of the love that it brings
I can hear a happy flutter
from near and far away
like a butterfly on a summer's day

In my lifelong journey
you're always by my side
when I lose direction
you'll be my guide, be my guide

with the kiss of a sunrise
she greets a brand new day
never mind tomorrow
don't cry for yesterday
with a happy flutter
from near and far away
like a butterfly on a summer's day

(instrumental)

with a happy flutter
from near and far away
like a butterfly on a summer's day
