Transparent Heart

© 2009 Mark Cote

1. look at me
    and you'll never see
    my inner weeping willow tree
A smile on my face as I joke and laugh
is it real, or a holograph

(chorus) For I have a transparent heart
You'll never see it is torn apart
                invisible pain
                invisible tears
                trying to make
                invisible years
                all within
                my transparent heart

2. Look at my eyes
    watch them shine
you'll never know what lies behind
what makes them shimmer what makes them glow
    is a deeper sadness
    than you'll ever know
(chorus)

3. as grains of sand
    fall through my hand
the watch I wear has no hands
but life's a beach on a sunny day
or maybe a debt I must repay
(chorus)

Un-erasable Tears

© 2009 Mark Cote

1. Yesterday the sun used to shine
and the stars danced above me (above me)
two hearts in a moment in time
but the clock is just ticking (ticking)

(bridge) In a red flash it all changed
                why won't it wash away
                with your memory...
                and what have you become?

(chorus) un-erasable tears
                un-erasable fears
                un-erasable tears
                through the years
                will always remind me

2. Now as my day turns to painful night
in my dreams I am trembling (trembling)
scars of the flesh will heal in time
but the memory still haunts me (haunts me)
(bridge)
(chorus)

In The La La La Of Your Love

© 2009 Mark Cote

(chorus) in the la la la la of your love
in the la la la la of your love
in the la la la la of your love
                is where I hide

1. on a piano key I glide
flow from your heart as you hold a note
soft as silk from your voice I float

2. in the air and on the wind
it comes together as you sing
lit by the light in your eyes
    to the word it magnifies
(chorus)

3. with your gift you share the words
of a voice that is never heard
as you breathe life into a song
hearts lift as they sing along
(chorus)

Emotionally Blind

© 2009 Mark Cote

1. The blind man sees more than most
    the love in the world
    while people engross
    as it flashes
day to night, night to day
not many feel the warmth of the sun

(chorus) I'd rather be physically blind
                than emotionally blind
                closed hearts will never feel
                closed minds will never see
                I'd rather be physically blind
                than emotionally blind

2. Busy streets all look the same
    a blur of motion
    too fast to see
day to night, night to day
not many feel the warmth of the sun
(chorus)

3. No one sees 'til it's too late
    the pain in a heart
    as it reaches out
    a life is gone
day to night, night to day
not many feel the warmth of the sun
(chorus)

The Blue Flower

© 2009 Mark Cote

1. Sitting there
growing skyward in between the lanes
    a smil..ing blue flower
    no one ever sees

2. each new day
he starts it off in the same old way
    smiling as they go by
    and crying dewy tears

    bright and blue
he shows his colors in the brightest hue
hoping one day you'll see him too
    as it starts to rain..

on sunny nights and darkened days
    it is all the same

(chorus) and as they drive... by
                no one sees him
                and as they drive by
                only cold quick stares...
                oh, and he keeps crying
                Don't you love me?
                or don't you even care?

3. he shared the sun
with friends around he thought who cared
    intertwined roots of trust
    but they just were weeds

    alone and cold
now weakened by years of trust
the weeds are gone by the pain remains
for all the world to see..

it's scary how all he knew
    all he knew is gone...
(chorus)

Magnolia Man And Daydream Girl

© 2009 Mark Cote

1. He closed his eyes to a darkened world
    and there we are
    Magnolia man and daydream girl
with visions of what it should be
    and there we are
    Magnolia man and daydream girl

(chorus) all we need is you and me
                where sun sweet mornings
                and hearts are warm
                we'll soak in the sun
                and dance in the rain
in a place in our minds nobody knows
and a place in our hearts where only love grows

2. while he'll keep her feet on the ground
she'll keep his dreams dancing around
    magnolia man and daydream girl

3. when I feel alone, you feel alone
    close our eyes
    and there we are
    magnolia man and daydream girl
(chorus)

Last Day On Earth

© 2009 Mark Cote

1. when Heaven doesn't help
    and Hell don't care
    When the sun comes up
    and it's cold everywhere
I'll love you like it's the last day on Earth

(chorus) I'll love you like this
'cause I know what you're worth
I want my last thought to be
                with you on this Earth

2. demons and leeches
will try to pull you down
    turn a pretty girl smile
    into a lonely heart frown
I'll love you like it's the last day on Earth

(bridge) You're in my heart
and I threw away the key
                your pretty eyes
                are all I see
                before I close my eyes
                one last time
may the bells of our love
                always chime
(chorus)

before I close my eyes
one last time
may the bells of our love
always chime
