A Heart Inside-Out

© 2008 Mark Cote

1. the ones that hurt you worst
    the ones you care about
you opened your heart without any doubt
    trusted and failed
dropped a heart though it's frail

now a heart with no core can't take any more
wash the sorrow down don't make a sound

(chorus) a heart inside out bleeding and needing
a heart inside out burning and yearning
come about and climb on in
a heart inside out has no more skin

2. a sign, fragile don't bend
    don't break or shatter
do they read it who knows it may not matter
    bent broke and torn
    by those loved and adorned

now a heart with no core can't take any more
wash the sorrow down don't make a sound
(chorus)

3. This shattered egg shell
    must start it again
so scared and unsure to find a new friend
    a heart might heal
    if true love is real
(chorus)
