What is it that holds your light heart down
tell me when it comes around
and makes you blue
melancholy you
what is it that hushes your honey words
a butterfly cry is never heard
what makes you blue
melancholy you
(chorus) If I could take
take you away
take away those solemn shades of grey
bring out the summer shades of blue
bring out the summer that's left in you
let me see the glow in your eyes
melancholy you
think of me when times are tough
think of me when you've had enough
think of that love you feel inside
melancholy you
though we will never touch hand in hand
this feeling can cross both sea and land
you make me happy when I am blue
melancholy you
(chorus)
My dreams, my tears, my hopes, my fears. Yearning love I immerse. My world in a verse

If I Hadn't Met You I would've Dreamed You Up Anyway
© 2011 Mark Cote
The noisy clock that breaks my sleep
it doesn't smile it's not that sweet
instead a kiss upon my face
the honeydew I know the taste
what can I say
if I hadn't met you, I would’ve dreamed you up anyway
robin dancing in the tree
he sings his song and looks at me
I know the love within a song
without a word can be so strong
hey hey hey
if I hadn't met you, I would’ve dreamed you up anyway
(chorus) off the ground
(when the world gets heavy)
without a sound
(you come and live inside me)
How glad am I
if I hadn't met you, I would’ve dreamed you up anyway
mystery that pulled me through
I never saw I never knew
you were always on my mind
when skies were grey it always shined
sunrise in May
if I hadn't met you, I would’ve dreamed you up anyway
The noisy clock that breaks my sleep
it doesn't smile it's not that sweet
instead a kiss upon my face
the honeydew I know the taste

Inside Myself
© 2011 Mark Cote
inside myself
when the laughter and the clatter are missing just one more
does it matter anymore
as I walk along the shore
I feel so small
as it wraps around me
inside myself
where faces never change and never run away
or never die away
have a bad word to say
you look my way
you see right through me
(chorus) when you look around
for that smile I used to smile
and all you see are fences
it's not because of you
it's the world I knew
that clouded up my mind
and blinded all my senses
inside myself
just a short road down but such a long climb out
from a world without
footsteps of doubt
who do you trust
and who will love me
(chorus)
inside myself
when the laughter and the clatter are missing just one more
does it matter anymore
as I walk along the shore
I feel so small
as it wraps around me
inside myself
where faces never change and never run away

The Day You Dropped The Ball
© 2011 Mark Cote
(chorus) So baby I won't hear you if you call
won't see you if you crawl
it all comes back to you
now the sun comes shining through
my life began after you
on the day you dropped the ball
Times just a turning page
never know until the pain
and the many shades of blue
seen how the pages can be turned
once a trust has burned
the light comes shining through
(chorus)
now I can hear the grass grow
now I see the wind blow
and feel the strength inside of me
there's no mirrors on my car
no place that's not too far
I'm not afraid to see
(instrumental)

Take Take My Hand
© 2011 Mark Cote
another day brewing
the sun is burning through the blue
vast and open sky
there's nowhere we can hide
but the air tasting sweet
just as sweet as you
take take my hand and we'll walk walk the sand
palm trees swaying
to the rhythm of the waves
dolphins calling
calling out our names
smiles are dancing in the air
as we breathe it in
take take my hand and we'll walk walk the sand
(bridge) all that's left of, the world we call our past
is just a taste of, something we contrast
we're contrasting broken dreams
outlasting angry storms
take take my hand and we'll walk walk the sand
(instrumental)
(bridge)
take take my hand and we'll walk walk the sand
timid footsteps
can this all be real
it's true what they say
all in time will heal
and tomorrows
will never be the same
take take my hand and we'll walk walk the sand
another day brewing
the sun is burning through the blue

there's nowhere we can hide
but the air tasting sweet
